On October 2018, about 50 members of the aeronautical community of the XII Region, University of Magallanes’ staff, from DGAC, the Chilean Air Force, Navy and Police met at the Auditorium of the Public Services Building in Punta Arenas to hear about CEFAA’s work.

CEFAA’s investigator Gustavo Arriagada offered the conference “UFOs… Anomalous Aerial Phenomena?” during which he showed a brief history of the Comittee’s beginnings in 1997.

Afterwards, he explained CEFAA’s internal and external advisors’ mission and revealed the working methodology, processes and protocols designed during the year.
During the conference, CEFAA’s efforts to support the aerial operations safety in the 32 million square miles airspace under Chile’s responsibility were detailed.

Mr. Arriagada spoke about the sighting reports’ entry channels and the methodology used to research these phenomena, which interest many people.

CEFAA’s researcher also showed audiovisual material and examples of the most frequently reported phenomena which turn out to have a conventional explanation, besides a complete report on results so far this year.

The conference ended with a questions and answers round which allowed the public to take part. Among the public there were pilots from the different branches of the Chilean Military and Public Safety institutions.
